This year, the conference's international section has been prolonged by two days owing, among other things, to the Town Twinning project managed by the Vysocina Region. Accordingly, in collaboration with Prague City Council, the Vysocina Region and the association Cesky zavinac, the meeting of the Global Cities Dialogue and the session of the GCD Steering Commitee and Sherpa's Meeting take place in Prague starting on Friday, April 1, 2005. Representatives of some Polish GCD member cities will take place in this event.

Dear friends and colleagues,

Let me welcome you to the second year of the international V4DIS Conference: Visegrad for Developing Information Society, which will be held together with the eighth year of the Internet in Public Administration Conference. This is a major e-government event in the new Member States of the European Union.

V4DIS Conference is supported by the International Visegrad Fund. V4DIS project partners are as follow: The Association of Polish Cities, Union of Towns of Slovakia, Association of Towns and Communities of Slovakia and Hungarian National Association of Local Authorities.

We really appreciate good cooperation with Poland organizations, namely the Association of Polish Cities or Cities on the Internet Association, which organizes, for instance, a traditional conference in Zakopane or participates in preparing the EISCO conference.

V4DIS Conference will be held in Prague and Hradec Kralove on April 3--5, 2005 under the participation of national delegations from the V4 countries. The delegations will consist of representatives of local and regional self-governments and national associations of municipalities.

  • Cooperation within the V4 countries
  • INSPIRE project and trans-borders cooperation
  • ICT as a tool for boosting tourism
  • Internet for libraries
  • eCitizenship for all 2004
  • e-government at local, regional, national and European levels
  • Public administration gateways
  • Best practices of towns of communities with implementing new e-services
  • ICT and the Environment
  • Financing IT projects from European sources
  • Interchanging data between administrations

V4DIS Conference work languages are English and Czech.
