The V4DIS conference already for the fourth time in Hradec Kralove

01/24/2007

Within the international part of the programme of the anniversary 10th year of a prestigious conference ISSS/LORIS, which is held in the days of 2 and 3 April 2007 in Hradec Kralove, there will already for the fourth time also take place a meeting of working groups of the Visegrad Four countries--V4DIS (Visegrad Four for Developing Information Society). The key themes of this year conference traditionally cover the questions connected with further development of e-government in the Czech Republic, in Poland, in Slovakia and Hungary as well as multiplatform services for citizens or public administration portals. A significant part of the international programme of the ISSS/LORIS/V4DIS conference will as usual also include international exchange of experience and examples of "best practices" from each V4 country.

"The fact that V4DIS meeting will take place within the ISSS/LORIS conference already the fourth time in sequence shows how important position our conference holds in the whole region of the middle and east Europe," says Tomas Rencin, director of the ISSS/LORIS/V4DIS conference. "It is a very positive thing that local as well as foreign participants of this event realize how significant international exchange of experience from the area of informisation of public administration is. The experience of the last years shows that a close cooperation in this area clearly contributes to continuous development of e-government and that is not only in a limited area of the V4 countries but also in the countries which border on some of the Visegrad countries."

The upcoming V4DIS meeting will be again held under the auspices of President of the Senate of Parliament of CR Premysl Sobotka, who pronounced the last year of V4DIS as one of the most significant events of its kind in Europe and remarked that: "this conference has its unique significance mainly in the fact that exchange of experience takes place on the level of the countries that have common historical experience, similar economic potential and also the same length of membership in the European Union and thus also related problems in some spheres of their activities." He also expressed his confidence that exactly here there will be found procedures of creating new applications of information and communication technologies in public administration."

The crux of the programme will lie in the questions of e-government and electronic services for the citizens including creation of broadband infrastructure, e-democracy and e-inclusion, development and support of e-tourism and internet promotion not only of the local entrepreneurial subjects but also of cultural and natural monuments. Last but not least there will be also time and place for presentations of the best practices, exchange of experience and final discussions and that is mainly with respect to the collaboration of the subjects on the above mentioned issues.

The V4DIS meeting will also contribute to the programme of the social gala evening of the whole ISSS/LORIS/V4DIS conference--similarly as in the last years there will take place an announcement of the results of an international competition EuroCrest for the best Web pages of towns, villages or regions. In this competition there are nominated individual participants, and that is not only from the Visegrad Four countries, through their national associations--often according to their position in national competitions such as for example a Czech Golden Crest, Golden Crest of Slovakia or a Polish Golden At.

The main organizer of the V4DIS conference is Association Czech At, its partners are then Union of towns of Slovakia, Hungarian National Association of Local Authorities (TÖOSZ), Polish Alfa Omega Foundation, National Association of Intelligent Settlements--ITOSz Hungary, University of Hradec Kralove, Option.hu Technology Development and Cultural Service Provider Ltd.--Hungary, Capital city of Prague, City of Nyiregyhaza--Hungary, City of Moldava nad Bodvou--Slovakia.
