This year Days of the town Moldava nad Bodvou were attended by guests from four countries—besides hosts from Slovakia there were also deputies of Hungarian towns Edelény, Encs, Karcag, Tarcal and Siklós, Polish Brzozow, Rumanian Szekélykeresztúr and Czech Tišnov (all together over 330 participants). The meeting was aimed at the protection of cultural heritage of nations, development of sport and tourism as well as intensifying mutual cooperation. The programme included also a session in which course there were awarded some citizens, a number of sports activities and social meetings as well as a hand-over of a new amphitheatre built within the project of cross-border cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia. There were also presented a year results of the Project of incubator houses from Slovakia (Moldvan and Komorovce) and Hungary (Edelény and Encs). The main idea of similar events was very well expressed by László Brat, the lord mayor of Hungarian town Encs, in his toast in the course of a gala session: "We have found out that unity means power and that our cooperation based on real grounds is mutually beneficial and it moves us forward. If we unite our power, we can eliminate more easily disadvantages that are to be endured by our regions in contrast to other more advanced countries." |
