Congress Centre ALDIS, Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic
The seventh ISSS (Internet in Public Administration and Self-Government) conference, scheduled to take place at the Aldis Congress Centre in Hradec Kralove between March 29 and 30, will also include the ELANET Workshop. Members of the ELANET (CEMR) network will meet there with invited representatives of associations of municipalities and regions from Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. Alongside the LORIS conference and the prestigious V4DIS (Visegrad Group for Developing Information Society) project, the workshop will add a very important international dimension to an event that ranks on a European scale among the largest forums for state administration and local government representatives, ICT technologies suppliers and specialists. "We consider the fact that a meeting as prestigious as the ELANET Workshop will be held within the framework of the seventh ISSS conference as further proof of the significance of our activities pertaining to public administration informisation in Central and Eastern Europe," states Tomas Rencin, the ISSS conference director. "This event will bring to Hradec Kralove other distinguished foreign guests and, at the same time, will allow for establishing new contacts and acquiring new experience." The ELANET Workshop represents a unique opportunity to learn about successful projects in the area of information and communications technologies introduced in public administration and self-governments at the local and regional level. Apart from experience and examples of solutions to specific problems, the workshop participants will also present trends and methods enhancing rapid development of web portals of municipalities (the KEeLAN project). They will also focus on the strategy within the THREE ROSES project, which is coordinated by the CEMR network and the eris@ and TeleCities projects, and whose goal is also the development of open source software solutions for the public sector. An important part of the workshop will be formed by the presentations of nine European centres working within the PRELUDE project, which deals with local and regional priorities in research and development of technologies and innovations. Draft programme of the workshopOver the years, the ISSS conference has become a traditional forum for evaluating the progress made in the use of information and communications technologies as regards public administration and local government in the Czech Republic and, simultaneously, an extensive discussion platform primarily devoted to further information society development. The main organiser of the conference is the company Triada, while the auspices have been assumed by the Minister of Informatics of the Czech Republic, Vladimir Mlynar. This year, the International Visegrad Fund will be one of the important co-organisers. For more information about ISSS 2004, as well as previous conferences, please visit www.isss.cz.
